Property description
Description
Historic castle for sale on the hills of Impruneta, about 15 minutes from Florence and 5 minutes from the center of Grassina. The property, with a surface area of approximately 2100 sqm, with 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, is arranged on 3 levels with a lift. This castle, notified by the Superintendency of Fine Arts, presents an invaluable historical-artistic heritage in the Tuscan tradition and stands out above all for its spectacular architectural evolution. From the 13th century, it was the scene of battles between the Guelphs and Ghibellines and was later modified in the 16th century, when it became the home of the Bastiani Montauti family. The latter, eager to live in symbiosis with nature, opened the sumptuous residence onto the greenery, thus establishing a new visual and functional relationship with the surrounding countryside. The Arch. Domenico di Baccio d'Agnolo then opened large windows overlooking the entire Ema valley, as well as the pleasant double frescoed loggia, with jasmine vines. The castle reached the apogee of its splendor in the 17th century when Filippo Niccolini commissioned the renowned architect Gherardo Silvani to expand the structure so that the villa lost its fortress appearance.
On the ground floor, the vast reception rooms feature vaulted frescoed, and coffered ceilings, pietra serena fireplaces, and decorated grotesque windows. The circle of Pandolfo Sacchi, a seventeenth-century Medici artist, created the refined ornaments depicting symbols of Eloquence, Idleness, and Abundance. The private apartments are divided between the side wings of the castle, with the sleeping area on the first floor. The master apartment has a magnificent ceiling richly carved with geometric motifs, paintings, and gilding with a coat of arms. Finally, on the castle tower's top floor, there is access to a panoramic terrace with breathtaking views.
The various porticoes of the villa allow you to appreciate the garden and the outdoor relaxation areas in all seasons, as well as the pleasant internal courtyard with an ancient well. Beyond the fortified walls, the property includes approximately 8.5 hectares of land with centuries-old forests, in which it is possible to build a swimming pool. The property includes the caretaker's villa and a private chapel consecrated in medieval style, once a county parish. Furthermore, a large cellar can be used as a spa area.
The intimate conformation of the castle allows the property to be experienced as a family residence. However, it is also suitable as an accommodation facility and a location for luxury weddings. The castle is registered in the name of a company, from which it is possible to purchase 100% of the shares or the individual asset.
