1B Gibson Place is set in the south facing side of the triangle of terraced houses which are alongside the 18th fairway of the world-famous Old Course on the northwest corner of St Andrews.

This is a one-way street which crosses the 18th and 1st fairways of the Old Course and leads to the West Sands Beach on the far side. The 17th green of the Old Course, known as The Road Hole, and the Swilken Burn with its bridge are opposite the end of Gibson Place.

St Andrews is renowned worldwide as the Home of Golf. There are now seven golf courses under the management of the St Andrews Links Trust, including the world-famous Old Course which played host to the 150th Open Championship in 2022. There are many other golf courses nearby including The Duke’s Course, two courses at Fairmont St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie.
