In a state of disrepair, we salvaged this little part of Bristol History in 2021, with a full renovation including the addition of a new kitchen and bathroom, new electrical wiring and plumbing throughout, as well as a gas log burning stove. Built in 1850, as you would expect Dolphin Cottage has character and charm in spades. A stone's throw away from Whiteladies Road and all of its restaurants, pubs and shops, with the Downs for a garden, this house epitomises location, location, location. There’s a wonderful community in this area and it didn’t take us long to be on a first name basis with our neighbours and the landlords of the four great pubs within 50m of the front door. The Coach and Horses do a Bristol-famous roast on a Sunday where we often meet with family and friends (make sure you book ahead to get a spot).
For outdoor space, you can relax on the sheltered south-facing balcony where we enjoy getting the BBQ going on lazy summer days. Where there’s always a chance of a hot-air balloon passing just over the rooftop. There’s the little known Easter Garden next door, which is a community maintained oasis with a pond and shady benches, perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. And the Downs requires no explanation but really is the place in Bristol to kick a ball, attend a festival or walk the dog. We have loved living here and know Dolphin Cottage will continue to enrich lives for many years to come.<br /><br />
