Property description

Nether Knockbuckle is a detached house completed in white harled exterior and under a roof of red rosemary tile. The original architect was James Salmon, a contemporary of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The house was commissioned circa 1910 and is protected by a category ‘B’ listing with historic Scotland.

Nether Knockbuckle has striking architecture and is in the distinctive ‘Arts & Crafts’ style with numerous features of note, high chimney stacks, overhung eaves, mock Tudor timber strapping. Internally the rooms all imbue character and charm and a sense of welcome, there are exposed ceiling beams, exposed lintels, many original fireplaces with Rennie Macintosh influence, and doors featuring heritage ironmongery.

Nether Knockbuckle is a very special property set amid private woodland gardens on the western fringe of Kilmacolm village, it is, in the humble opinion of the agents, a fine opportunity for discerning buyers to acquire and enjoy life in a privately located property and a notable protected home of Scottish architectural heritage.

It should be noted that whilst Nether Knockbuckle requires a programme of modernisation and redecoration, there can be no argument that the house represents a wonderful opportunity for new inbound buyers to stamp their own design, taste, personality and style on what is without question a fine blank canvas and an important period home of Kilmacolm.
